The Round Table Begins — A Family Passion for Pizza

It all started in 2003 when founder Marcus Ellison opened a small pizzeria on W Broadway in Minneapolis with a single mission: serve round table pizza made the way his grandmother taught him — with patience, quality flour, hand-stretched dough, and ingredients sourced from trusted local farms.

What began as a neighborhood spot quickly became a gathering place. The round table at the center of the original dining room became a symbol of community — everyone welcome, everyone equal, every meal shared.

2003

The First Round Table

Marcus Ellison opens Round table pizza at 2118 W Broadway, Minneapolis, with a single wood-fired oven, six tables, and a handwritten menu. The round table in the center becomes the restaurant's iconic symbol.

2007

Growing the Family

After winning Minneapolis's "Best New Restaurant" readers' poll three years running, we expand our kitchen, hire our first head chef, and introduce the now-legendary Round Table Classic — our signature 18" pizza.

2011

Local Farm Partnerships

We formalize our farm-to-table commitment by signing long-term sourcing agreements with five Minnesota farms. This marks our transition to 100% locally sourced produce and dairy year-round.

2015

Online Ordering Launch

We launch our online ordering platform, making round table pizza accessible for delivery and pickup throughout Minneapolis. Orders double within the first year.

2019

Catering & Events

Round table pizza launches its catering division, bringing our round table experience to corporate events, weddings, and community gatherings across the Twin Cities metro area.

2023

20 Years & Going Strong

We celebrate two decades of craft pizza and community. 50,000+ customers served, a new franchise program launched, and a fully revamped menu featuring vegetarian and gluten-friendly options for everyone at the round table.
